One picture is often said to be worth 1,000 words. But former US President Ronald Reagan once quipped: “One picture is worth 1,000 denials”. He might as well have been addressing Nakuru OCPD Johnstone Ipara, who last week not only oversaw a crude form of censorship but also incredibly considered one picture as being worth a thousand incitements to violence.
Police were reported to have disrupted Picha Mtaani, a street exhibition showcasing photographs of post-election violence, and confiscated those showing cops battering people and breaking into buildings. Hiding in his shell of denial, Mr Ipara later said the pictures were disturbing and could incite people.
Credible intelligence
Now, PointBlank wants to assume police were acting on credible intelligence that, you never know since it is a State secret, involved reading people’s minds using an “incitometer”.
Mark you, a similar exhibition was held in Nairobi last month without incident. PointBlank believes nobody is interested in the truth according to Saint Ipara or any other top cop. So, let the pictures speak for themselves.
